Foods that Cause Acid Reflux
By Jeff Melville

If you suffer from acid reflux, you are probably aware that there are certain types of food that can trigger this action. But at the same time, there may be some foods that do this that you are not even aware of.

Here are a few foods that you should stay away from if you are having problems with acid reflux.

1. Coffee and alcohol can cause acid reflux throughout the day. In addition, soda that contains caffeine can also cause this to happen.

2. Foods that are high in fat can cause acid reflux. They can delay the emptying of the stomach which will in turn increase your chance of acid reflux.

3. Smoking is one of the biggest causes of acid reflux that people are not fully aware of.

4. Eating big meals can increase your chances of acid reflux. Try to eat smaller meals throughout the day so that your stomach does not have as much to empty.

5. Avoid eating spicy foods.

6. Avoid acidic foods such as oranges, tomatoes, and lemons.

In addition, you will want to avoid eating right before you go to bed. Also, try not to lay down directly following a meal. Both of these will help to reduce acid reflux.
